    Small Group Sermon Discussion Questions
    1. Pastor Don states that it “Really takes God in you to build a bridge and not a wall” when it comes to dealing with difficult people in your life. Who have you built walls with in your past? What steps can you take to work towards building a bridge? (Remember Pastor Don also stated, “Not everything that has happened in your life, you have to go back and fix.”)

    2. Pastor Don presents 3 points to help us love our enemies as we are told to in Matthew 5 (1. See your enemy as an image bearer of God 2. Know their story 3. Love never fails) Which of these are most helpful to you? What can you put into practice now?
    3. Pastor Don teaches that the Greek translation for the word “perfect” in Matthew 5:48 (“be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect”) is actually translated as being made complete. How does that shift your perspective of this command?
    Watch Party H.O.S.T. Guide

Thank you for your interest in hosting a watch group! We are living in a time in history of unprecedented challenged yet we have the opportunity to create opportunities for the Church to continue to grow and to be on mission together to bring the heart of God to EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE and help them experience the FULLNESS of life! To that end, we are excited about your interest in gathering with a small group of people for Sunday sermon, worship and ministry together.

Our goal is to make being a watch group leader as simply as pressing play! Utilize the this webpage (victory.org/watchgroup) to obtain the resources you need. We will have discussion questions for post sermon discussion, kids resources available and links to giving + connecting to VC central. Here are some HOSTing tips to help you:

HOSPITALITY: Create a safe and welcoming environment for your watch group! People remember how they feel in a space—make it fun, welcoming and safe.

ORGANIZATION: Make sure to communicate well with your group utilizing the Church Center app. Keep them updated on the watch group plans for each weekend including and changes in scheduling or delegation of roles.

SERVANT HEARTS: YOU have a heart to serve others and a desire to create a safe space for people to worship and serve together. You are creating the space, but invite others in to help with set up, kids programming, prayer, worship, clean up and so on.

THOUGHTFULNESS: Keep in mind that you are simply creating space and extending the invite for people to gather in fellowship. People will feel comfortable participating in different ways; some may not return because it is different—let God bring the people—if you create the environment—God will bring the people who need what you have to offer.

    TIPS:

This doesn’t have to be complicated, but we do want to offer a few helpful tips as you consider what your time together may look like.

Time + Place: We recommend you gather during the live stream worship service on Sundays mornings at 10:30am. You can also plan your watch party at a more convenient time for your group later in the day or week; if you do this, the sermon content will not include worship. Ideally find a device that can livestream for everyone to see and participate in simultaneously.

Victory Kids: If you have children present, you can encourage them to remain with their parents during worship or you can have someone to facilitate a “kids experience” for them in another area. You have access to the kids lessons posted a week in advance on the watch group webpage! Feel free to modify as you see fit for your group.

Pray: Pray for your group throughout the week and prior to people arriving. Invite God into the space for him to show up in your corporate fellowship and time together. Invite others to pray together before and after service. Utilize the Messaging function in the church center app to stay connected throughout the week.
